Emergency Preparedness Training 2008

Please submit the application no later than 48-hours or two business days before the scheduled date of the course you wish to attend. Course Descriptions
(ICS-100): Introduction to the Incident Command System
This is a 3-hour classroom based course designed to introduce the Incident Command System (ICS) and provides the foundation for higher level ICS training. This course describes the history, features, and principals and organizational structure of the ICS. It also explains the relationship between ICS and the National Incident Management System (NIMS). This course is offered in conjunction with IS-700 National Incident Management System (NIMS).

(ICS-200): Incident Command System for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents
This is a 3-hour classroom based course designed to enable personnel to operate efficiently during an incident or event within the Incident Command System (ICS). ICS-200 provides training on and resources for personnel who are likely to assume a supervisory position within the ICS.
Prerequisites: ICS-100 and IS-700
(ICS-300): Intermediate ICS for Expanding Events
This is a 24-hour classroom-based course designed to provide multi-discipline or multi-jurisdiction course intended for front-line personnel with supervisory responsibilities, such as the incident commander or planning section chief. As an all-hazards Incident Command System course, the three-day curriculum consists of several modules that include instruction in general principles associated with incident command, along with various tabletop exercises that allow students to put this knowledge to practical use.
Prerequisites: ICS-100, ICS-200 and IS-700
(ICS-400): Advanced ICS for Command and General Staff, Complex Incidents and MACS
This is a 16-hour classroom based course designed to provide training on resources for personnel who require advanced application of the Incident Command System (ICS). Course topics include explaining how major accidents engender special management challenges, as well as explaining how circumstances in which multi-agency coordination systems are established. The target audience for this course is senior personnel who are expected to perform in a management capacity in an Area Command
or Multi-agency Coordination Entity.
Prerequisites: ICS-100, ICS-200, ICS-300, and IS-700
(IS-700): National Incident Management System (NIMS)
This is a 3-hour classroom based course designed to introduce the National Incident Management System (NIMS). It explains the purpose, principles, key components and benefits of NIMS. The course also contains "Planning Activity" screens giving you an opportunity to complete some planning tasks during this course. The planning activity screens are printable so that you can use them after you complete the course. This
course is offered in conjunction with ICS-100 Introduction to the Incident Command System.

Web EOC
This is a 4-hour web based communication system course designed to provide participants with the capability to understand the different login options available in WebEOC, login to WebEOC, understand the Control Panel functions and indicator lights, display and add information to Status Boards and use WebEOC plug-ins.

Web EOC Refresher
This is a 4-hour web based communication system course designed to provide a review on logging in, standard jurisdiction Status Boards and new jurisdiction procedures. Each Refresher course (like the User course) has been designed to reflect the current processes and procedures of each NCR individual jurisdiction. All users are strongly encouraged to attend a Refresher class within their own jurisdiction.

Emergency Liaison Officer Training (ELO)
This is a 8-hour classroom based course designed to provide the Emergency Liaison Officer (ELO) with an overview of the District Response Plan. It identifies the roles and responsibilities of the ELO during a public emergency, discusses emergency support functions (ESFs) and duties ELO perform in reference to those functions. Participants will also learn to operate 800 megahertz handheld radios, review the processes and procedures of the Emergency Operations Center, as well as participate in a roundtable discussion on emergency management and how special events and /or disasters affect government operations as a whole.

Preparing the States: Implementing Continuity of Operations (COOP) Planning
This course will provide state, local, and tribal officials with information and materials to train government institutions in their jurisdictions to develop and implement COOP plans. Students will learn how to write an effective plan supporting the National Response Plan (NRP) and ensuring that essential government functions, programs, services, systems, and personnel continue to operate during and after a natural disaster or terrorist attack.
Public Assistance Operations I
This is an 8-hour classroom based course designed to introduce participants to the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA’s) Public Assistance (PA) Program. The course provides basic information about the following: The Federal disaster response process and the interaction of FEMA and the State in the delivery of the PA Program; The laws, regulations, and policies governing the PA Program; and procedures for conducting field operations.

Public Assistance Grant Program
This is an 8-hour classroom based course designed to introduce participants to the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA's) Public Assistance (PA) Grant Program. The course provides basic information about assistance available to state, tribal and local governments, and certain types of private nonprofit organizations, so that communities can quickly respond to and recover from major disasters
or emergencies declared by the President.
